On 26 and 27 November 2025, the University of Carthage took part in the workshops “Quality Assurance at the Heart of Tunisian Higher Education”, jointly led by the Tunisian Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ATEA), the universities of Carthage, Monastir and Sfax, as well as the General Directorate of Technological Studies.
This two-day event was supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) within the framework of the HAQAA3 initiative (Harmonisation, Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Africa), funded by the European Union. It aimed to disseminate the Pan-African Quality Assurance Framework (PAQAF) standards within the Tunisian higher education sector and to strengthen the development of a harmonised quality assurance and accreditation system at the institutional, national, regional, and continental levels.
Mrs. Nadia Mzoughi Aguir, President of the University of Carthage, delivered the opening remarks during the first panel.
The workshops were held in the presence of Mr. Mondher Belaid, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, along with several institutional representatives and domain experts.
The sessions were facilitated by two distinguished experts:
Prof. Mohamed Lemine Haless (Mauritania) – advisor to the ministry and former President of the Mauritanian Accreditation Agency (AMAQ)
Additionally, Prof. Afef Abdelkrim, Vice-President of the University of Carthage, presented the Internal Quality Assurance system at UCAR, highlighting best practices and the mechanisms established to ensure continuous improvement.
This event reflects the University of Carthage’s strong commitment to promoting a culture of quality and academic excellence within the Tunisian higher education system.
