What it is

Docto’Entrepreneur 4.0 Programme – Sustainable Greentech Edition

Docto’Entrepreneur 4.0 is an innovation and technology transfer support track designed to help doctoral profiles and research teams transform research results, especially those with a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of 3 or higher, into market-ready solutions (licensing, startup/spin-off creation, or industry collaboration), with a particular focus on high-potential projects delivering sustainable impact, through a structured coaching and maturation pathway co-delivered by UCAR and the U-Accelerator Technology Transfer Office (TTO), in collaboration with PEEC (Student Entrepreneurship Pole – University of Carthage).

Programme Roadmap

The Docto’Entrepreneur pathway is embedded in the UCAR × U-Accelerator implementation approach, typically moving from project selection to pre-maturation, then to technology transfer strategy and maturation, and finally to dissemination and market engagement.

A common implementation structure is organized in 6 phases:

1- Team selection (universities/teams; dissemination and outreach to source projects)
2- Capacity building for IP & technology transfer (training/coaching)
3- Project portfolio prioritization (pre-maturation + design process)
4- Technology transfer strategy (technology identification; planning)
5-Maturation (prototyping/validation; “roadmap de valorisation”)
5-Dissemination (communication materials and dissemination events)

The programme also emphasizes public pitching and matchmaking with industries and investors, supported by coaching and market exploration.

What you will work on support themes

Participants are supported through targeted training and mentoring on key topics, including innovation strategies and tools, market and business model validation, intellectual property management, commercialization and go-to-market strategies, the entrepreneurial process and venture design, as well as market access and fundraising.

Expert Academic Programme

(Teacher-Expert Track in Innovation Management & Technology Transfer)- Programme Enseignant expert - P2E

The P2E Expert Academic Program is a capacity-building and coaching track that equips faculty members and teacher-researchers to become innovation coaches, able to lead interdisciplinary cells dedicated to technology transfer and project support within UCAR. The programme is led by UCAR, in collaboration with PEEC (Student Entrepreneurship Pole – University of Carthage) and the U-Accelerator Technology Transfer Office (TTO), as part of an integrated approach to support innovative projects and strengthen University–Industry collaboration.

The programme focuses on the training and mentoring of teacher-experts, covering innovation, technology transfer, an applied toolbox, and the use of platforms such as ValoTech Lab for innovation and matchmaking. It supports a structured progression toward technology readiness, market readiness, and investment readiness.
Faculty members / teacher-researchers (future “teacher-experts”) who will coach innovation projects and engage with industry needs. UCAR stakeholders involved in partnerships, transfer and valorization activities.
  • Promotes innovation and technology transfer by strengthening UCAR’s institutional capacity to identify, protect, mature, and transfer research results into concrete market pathways (collaborative projects, licensing, startup/spin-off).
  • Builds an expert faculty pool (“teacher-experts”) able to coach projects with a structured methodology and practical toolbox, and to support teams from early validation to deployment.
  • Strengthens entrepreneurial culture and capabilities among faculty members, reinforcing innovation-oriented teaching, mentoring, and applied project support.
  • Accelerates Industry–University collaboration by enabling co-development of RDI projects with companies and aligning research outcomes with market needs and partner expectations.
  • Improves valorization and commercialization performance through better IP awareness, reduced risk in knowledge disclosure, and clearer transfer strategies.
  • Contributes to a digital ecosystem of innovation and partnerships, notably through the use of platforms (e.g., ValoTech Lab) to support matchmaking, collaboration, and investment readiness.

The programme is designed to:

  • Identify and train a first core group of teacher-experts
  • Support teachers to master the accompaniment methodology and the toolbox
  • Apply learning through real use cases, such as startup/spin-off projects and university–industry projects
  • Enable teacher-experts to deliver services (training, mentoring, consulting)

Core training and coaching blocks typically include:

  • Technology transfer & RDI valorization (implementation, market deployment, collaborative project setup, contract signature, investor connections, pitching, fundraising support)
  • IP fundamentals (patent law basics, patentability, freedom-to-operate, and other protection routes such as know-how/secret and software/copyright)
  • Innovation management tools (technology maturity from TRL 4 to TRL 6, prototyping/MVP, business model, early adopters)
  • Risk reduction (minimizing sensitive information disclosure) and bridging the gap between research work and industrial product

A cohort is generally launched through a Call for Applications.

A standard process may include:

  • Call announcement and eligibility rules
  • Online application (profile, motivation, intended use cases, expected contribution)
  • Screening and shortlisting
  • Interview / pitch to validate commitment and fit
  • Selection and onboarding (milestones and deliverables)
