SmartGreenEcos: A New Momentum for the Dairy and Dairy Products Sector in Tunisia

Tunis, February 2026 – The SmartGreenEcos project, funded by the Interreg NEXT MED programme (2025–2028), was officially launched in Tunis. Its ambition is to accelerate the ecological and digital transition of the dairy and dairy products sector across the Mediterranean region.

Led by a partnership bringing together universities, research centers, experts, and 100 SMEs from Tunisia, Greece, Cyprus, and Jordan, SmartGreenEcos aims to structure a collaborative innovation ecosystem that supports the sustainable competitiveness of companies.

A Concrete Response to the Challenges of the Dairy Sector

In response to rising production costs, water stress, and increasing environmental requirements, the project offers operational support enabling SMEs to:

  • Optimize their industrial processes
  • Reduce losses and waste
  • Improve energy efficiency
  • Adopt digital and sustainable solutions tailored to their specific needs

Innovating Together at the Sector Level

Unlike isolated approaches, SmartGreenEcos focuses on pooling solutions, co-innovation, and sharing experiences between companies and experts to reduce innovation-related risks and accelerate implementation.

A Collaborative Digital Platform

At the heart of the project, a digital platform will enable sector stakeholders to:

  • Share knowledge and best practices
  • Access practical tools and innovative services
  • Develop technical and commercial partnerships
  • Strengthen cooperation and export opportunities across the Mediterranean

100% Funded Support

Selected companies will benefit free of charge from industrial diagnostics, co-innovation workshops, pilot actions, and personalized support fully funded by the European project.

Official Launch in Tunis

The project was officially launched on January 27, 2026, at the Mövenpick du Lac de Tunis, during a networking day organized by the University of Carthage, bringing together Tunisian SMEs, experts, and representatives of public institutions.
