Registration for the OpenDoors Russian Scholarship Project is now open. The Scholarship Project is held in 14 interdisciplinary subject areas and offers four tracks: Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, and Postdoc. Winners and prize-winners receive the right to free study or employment (depending on the track) at one of Russia’s leading universities.

Eligibility for the Scholarship

• Bachelor’s track: Individuals aged 16–23 who have completed or are completing an education that permits admission to universities under Russian law.
• Master’s track: Individuals aged 20–33 with a Bachelor’s degree. Students planning to complete their Bachelor’s programs in 2026 may also participate.
• Doctoral track: Requires a Specialist’s or Master’s degree obtained no later than the academic year of the Scholarship. Participants must be aged 22–35.
• Postdoc track: Individuals aged 24–39 with a Candidate of Sciences / Doctor of Sciences / PhD degree.

The age of participants is calculated as of September 1, 2025.

Both the Scholarship assignments and studies at universities are available in Russian and English.

What do winners receive?

• Bachelor’s and Master’s tracks: Choose a field of study corresponding to their selected subject area at one of the Russian universities offering programs in that field.
• Doctoral track: Choose a research supervisor for their work at one of the Open Doors host universities.
• Postdoc track: Receive an offer of employment as a researcher at a host university of the Open Doors.

Stages of the Open Doors

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral tracks: The first stage evaluates portfolios and requires an entry test. Successful participants move to the second stage.
• Postdoc track: The second stage requires a video presentation of research results.
• Doctoral track additional stage: A third stage includes an interview with potential academic supervisors. Participants select a supervisor after successful interviews.
• Postdoc track third stage: Conducted as interviews. Participants may take part in up to six interviews with selected research supervisors.
