The University of Carthage is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and productive environment for all members of its community: staff, students, faculty, and visitors. Recognizing the well-documented health risks associated with both direct and passive tobacco use, the University adopts this Smoke-Free Policy as part of its broader commitment to health promotion and well-being on all its campuses.
While the University acknowledges individual freedoms, it affirms its responsibility to protect the health of all persons present on its premises and to minimize the harms associated with tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
This policy applies to all individuals present on University of Carthage premises, including students, academic and administrative staff, contractors, visitors, and any other third parties. It covers all campuses, facilities, and properties owned, leased, or controlled by the University of Carthage.

1. Prohibition of Smoking
Smoking is strictly prohibited in the following areas:
All buildings owned, leased, or controlled by the University of Carthage, including offices, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, corridors, restrooms, and common areas
University student residences and dormitories
University-owned or operated vehicles
Outdoor spaces within the boundaries of university campuses, including courtyards, parking areas, sports facilities, and pedestrian pathways
2. Prohibition of Tobacco Advertising, Promotion, and Sale
The advertising, promotion, sponsorship, and sale of tobacco products of any kind are strictly forbidden on all University premises, buildings, and properties
The distribution of free tobacco samples or tobacco-related materials is equally prohibited
3. Refusal of Tobacco Industry Funding
The University of Carthage does not accept funding, donations, grants, or any form of financial support from the tobacco industry or its affiliated organizations
This prohibition extends to research funding, event sponsorships, and institutional partnerships
