On 7 July 2026, the Vitalait Foundation in Mahdia hosted an information and networking event organized by the University of Carthage within the framework of the SmartGreenEcos project, funded by the Interreg NEXT MED programme.

The event was coordinated by Ms. Iness Jabri, SmartGreenEcos Project Coordinator in Tunisia, with the participation of technology experts from BIWARE and SIRAT. It brought together nearly 20 stakeholders representing the dairy value chain, including farmers, livestock breeders, milk collectors, animal feed producers, and other sector professionals.

The participants were welcomed by Mr. Ali Klebi, President of the Vitalait Foundation, whose commitment and hospitality are gratefully acknowledged.

Beyond presenting the project’s objectives, the meeting provided an opportunity for constructive dialogue with industry stakeholders. Discussions focused on the current challenges facing the dairy sector and explored innovative approaches to support its green and digital transformation.

Participants highlighted key priorities, including improving competitiveness, enhancing operational efficiency, facilitating access to innovative technologies, and supporting sustainable development. They also shared practical insights into the challenges encountered by farms and SMEs, helping identify priority needs that SmartGreenEcos will address through targeted technical support and capacity-building activities.

The strong engagement of participants confirmed the sector’s interest in a collaborative innovation ecosystem based on knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and practical solutions tailored to local needs.

SmartGreenEcos aims to establish a Euro-Mediterranean network bringing together around 100 SMEs from the dairy sector across Tunisia, Greece, Cyprus, and Jordan. In Tunisia, approximately 25 SMEs will benefit from business diagnostics, specialized training, technological and environmental advisory services, and networking opportunities with national and international experts.

This event represents an important milestone in the implementation of SmartGreenEcos in Tunisia and reflects the shared commitment of public and private stakeholders to building a more innovative, sustainable, and competitive dairy sector.

Tunisian SMEs operating in the dairy and dairy products sector are invited to join the SmartGreenEcos initiative and benefit from expert support, international partnerships, and new opportunities for green and digital innovation.
